Benchmarks, Great!

CNN.com is reporting that John McCain is suggesting benchmarks to measure progress for the Iraqi government during the war. Gee, benchmarks to measure success? Revolutionary! Why is it just now that we're talking about benchmarks? Shouldn't this have been a part of the discussion, oh, a few years ago? I still get disturbed when I see politicians trying to use logic after the fact. In the private sector, this is a tool that would have been suggested by someone in the planning stages of whatever big initiative was being proposed. Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that Sen. McCain is suggesting this, but c'mon, we're a day late and a dollar short on the common sense in Washington. Next, politicians should begin a class discussing how to work with a budget.
